The Project, originally titled “Mapping Expatriate Paris,” was founded in 2014 by Joshua Kotin, Jesse D. McCarthy (Project Manager), and Clifford E. Wulfman (Technical Lead). An overview of the project was available at mep.princeton.edu from 2016 to 2019 with a map created by Moacir P. de Sá Pereira.

All composite images of Shakespeare and Company ephemera were created by Xinyi Li with assistance from Gabriel Swift and Special Collections. All photographs of Sylvia Beach are by Gisèle Freund unless otherwise noted. The original image of Shakespeare was most likely designed by Charles Winzer. All written content on the website was co-authored by the Project team unless otherwise noted.

Three books have been vital to our work on the Shakespeare and Company Project: Sylvia Beach's Shakespeare and Company (1959); Noel Riley Fitch's Sylvia Beach and the Lost Generation: A History of Literary Paris in the Twenties and Thirties (1983); and Keri Walsh's The Letters of Sylvia Beach (2010).
